Resilience is the ability to deal effectively with adversity. Everyone experiences challenges in life, ranging from small things like a flat tire to large things like the death of a loved one. Sometimes we bounce back relatively quickly, but sometimes it takes longer. Some people seem to recover more quickly than others, and are able to use challenges as a catalyst for growth.
By observing what happens when people recover from setbacks and challenges, we know that there are some predictable patterns in how people cope with adversity, and some things that people can do to build their resilience. These things can be thought of as “change muscles” that you can strengthen just like you strengthen your physical muscles. My Resilience Gym was created to provide guidance and information on how to do this.
